Essay Topics - How to Choose the Essay Topic For Your Class

Essay Topics - How to Choose the Essay Topic For Your ClassA quick and easy strategy for writing essays is to use a general theme to guide your thoughts throughout the essay topics. In other words, to identify a topic of interest, narrow down the issues that are important in the essay topic, and then write the entire piece about that topic. That way, if you are called upon to edit or proofread, you will find that the piece is more coherent than one that is unfocused and scattered.I started this article with a look at essay topics and choices. By this I mean the diverse range of topics that students are faced with in their coursework. You have Oedipus the Oedipal king, Oedipus and Thebes, Theban kings, oedipal tragedy, fear and the ancient Athenian state, Athenian society, history of the Oedipal stage, and many others. If you were to read all of the syllabi of introductory English courses, you would have a very short list of topics and themes. One other factor that affects this list is the choice of the topic, and whether it is classical or contemporary. When you choose a theme for your essay, the reality is that it is a theme that you are known to be interested in, so there will be themes in any field that you might be writing about. However, in a contemporary setting, the choices are going to be broader because the reader is not expected to have an intimate knowledge of the type of theme you are using. The themes of essay topics can be general themes, which the reader may not be familiar with. It is not uncommon to read essays on the political situation in Greece or Rome, or on the way that classical writers dealt with themes like love and duty and the like. Of course, the choices of general theme are not confined to these areas, but they do make the topics much easier to navigate. On the other hand, when you are dealing with themes that are specific to a field of study, the choices of subjects may also be narrow. Subjects that relate to a particular area of art or are relevant to a particular region or geographical region, may be narrow in focus. At the same time, the student is familiar with those subjects and does not have the general knowledge that one has when writing about an Oedipal king, or the Roman government. To sum up, here is how I define general theme as the framework within which you are able to work. In other words, the theme of the essay may be general, but the subject of the essay is quite narrow and not necessarily appropriate to the general area of the topic. When the student is confronted with a general topic, the first thing that is examined is whether the theme is broad enough to accommodate the subject. In a general theme, the theme is clearly defined and the major points are obvious. As a matter of fact, when students try to write on general themes, they are not challenged to be unique, but to be able to clearly articulate their main points and establish the relationships among them.Themes that are specific to essay t opics can be wide and perhaps too general. However, they are still generally easier to understand than the more general ones because the topics are very specific and the theme is very specific to the specific type of topic.
